The Department offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs for undergraduate majors. The Bachelor of Arts degree emphasizes a broad foundation in the liberal arts, including advanced work in a foreign language. The Bachelor of Science degree emphasizes public administration and public policy. This degree stresses professional preparation for government service and the knowledge necessary for planning, implementing, and evaluating public policy. Both degree programs draw on upper division courses in the Department of Political Science taught by tenured or tenure-track faculty. These courses are usually small in size to encourage class discussion and the development of communication skills. Virtually all classes also have written assignments.
